SPARTA, Ky. – Helio Castroneves’ light-hearted proposal of a post-IZOD IndyCar Series Championship Celebration dance competition went over like a blown tire with Dario Franchitti, Scott Dixon and Ryan Briscoe.
“It would love to see these guys dance. I could teach them some moves like the Quick Step and the Rumba” said Castroneves, a former “Dancing with the Stars” champion. “We could do some competition – not for championship points or anything.”
“I had to be convinced to dance at my own wedding,” Franchitti chimed in.
“Maybe after I have a few drinks,” Dixon replied.
Processing a number of the usual racetrack-related questions prior to an IZOD IndyCar Series Open Test at Kentucky Speedway, Castroneves’ eyes widened and he began swaying when asked for his opinion of Chad Ochocinco’s performances on the current season of “Dancing with the Stars.”
Castroneves said the Cincinnati Bengals’ wide receiver needs to let his personality shine.
“The problem is they’re too competitive,” he said. “It’s a dance competition; they have to have fun with it, not be so uptight. When you’re so competitive, it comes out in your face.”
