Incorporating social media functions Twitter and Facebook, news and video, the IndyCar Mobile app brings all the action of race weekends to fans — whether they’re in the grandstands or vicariously at the racetrack.

The IZOD IndyCar Series app for the Android platform is part of Verizon’s relationship with the IZOD IndyCar Series, and enhancements, including real-time timing and scoring will be added through the 2010 season.

Get details about app, including how to download, and about Verizon’s Android by logging on to mobile.vzw.com/indycar on an Android phone version 1.6 or newer.

Awesome! Too bad I didn’t’ find out about this 7 hours ago, but I’ll try it out for the next race. Pretty cool. And who better to introduce this app than the winner of today’s race and Verizon’s sponsored driver… Will Power!

Great app so far. Just downloaded it and loving it so far. Something free from Verizon for a change and ya gotta grab it, especially if it has do do with INDYCAR!!!

Great ideas with the app! To bad IZOD and Verizon have alienated iPhone users by not providing an app for the iOS . So much potential wasted.

[...] IZOD IndyCar – I’m pretty sure you have to be on the Verizon network to get this one, but it lets you keep up with the IndyCar season on your Droid.  I haven’t tried it out during a race yet, so I’m not sure what all it offers during the races.  I’ll post an update after this weekend’s IndyCar race at Barber if it offers anything useful. So it is a Android app but only available to Verizon Droid customers? Weak…. put it on the Android market and make it available to everyone.

What’s an iPhone, and who are these people that are suffering Droid-Envy?

  16. Ray on June 19, 2011 5:35 pm

As someone who uses both, there is no such thing as “droid envy.” We need this app for iPhone! Heck, Blackberry too! If we are going to show America that open wheel is real racing, we need to get this into as many hands as possible.

Very disappointing!! Two days at the track and the app drops the connection after a few minutes and there is several minute delay over the Live broadcast. Don’t bother.

Could IndyCar and Verizon have made this any more complicated? After numerous attempts at loading oniPad I’m giving up.

  22. Zipman_13 on May 1, 2012 2:20 am

I cannot believe this isn’t available on an iOS platform at all…..wasted app. The BIGGEST app driven platform = iOS.
