Happy New Year everyone!
We’re all about the 2011 season, thinking about new things we can do online. We’re working on a lot of different digital projects including a revamped IndyCar Nation section to IndyCar.com, a new mobile site, new content and more interaction with our fans – You!
One thing we offer a lot of online is video. Our YouTube Channel has over 1200 videos. Here’s Danica Patrick talking about technology in one of our videos from 2010. My point is, we produce a lot of video, and that won’t stop.
For 2011, we want to try a new video series, called 11 in 11. We’re going to try and ask all of the 2011 IZOD IndyCar drivers the same 11 questions over the course of the season.
Here’s where you become involved. We want you to come up with the selection of questions that would apply to any of our drivers.
Leave your general question as a comment on this blog. Or send it to us via Twitter (@IndyCar) or through our Facebook page. We need your suggestions by next Monday, January 10. Hey, we move fast.
We’ll pick the final 11 for 2011 and get started soon. You can expect to see these videos throughout the season and we promise to try and cover all of the drivers.
Ask away…

Do you think the series should once again feature more oval track racing because of the wheel-to-wheel action and general excitement for the fans?
Helio
I have just finished reading you book, and it have given fans some inside to what goes on “behind the scenes” to get a driver into a ride year in and year out. Your story and the stories of your fellow drivers would make for a good Hollywood movie. Who has the energy and personality to pay your role?
Tony, Helio
I was at Kentucky when Tony won in 2007 and witness Tony stopping at Helio’s to talk about a close on track encounter. This was one of the visible signs that your friendship had hit a bump in the road. How is it now? The two of you go back a long way, all the way to Karting days of your youth. Are you able to put differences aside and be friends?
Dario
Is there any desire to return to NASCAR? What about trying to win the Daytona 500?
I’d like to know how the drivers feel about the number of races/length of the season. Would they like to see more races in the season? And if so, would they want to add more races in on off weeks or extend the season? Or do they feel that the length and number of races is about right?
What are you most looking forward to in 2012 with the new car and engine?
Everyone wants to win the Indy 500. After that what is the race you would most like to win?
Marco, Graham, and Justin
So, when the season is over what kind of things do you do as a driver to keep busy? Do you have any side jobs that have to do with racing or driving?
What would your dream track to race on? Where is it (or where would it be)?
When was the moment you knew you had to race?
Whats the coolest part about being a race car driver? Is there a certain aspect outside of the track you love most?
Who inspired you to race?
What has been your proudest moment as a driver?
Whats life on the road like during the season?
More questions,
Marco, Graham, and Justin
What would your dream car set up be? Engine and Chassis.
What is the toughest part of your job? Name all.
Drivers are in Indy almost the full month of May. What is your favorite part of the whole month? The race or other events….
Tell us about the first race that you won (no matter how old you were, what type of race it was) and how it made you feel.
I want to know the best prank each driver has played on other drivers/crew members?
The prank quesiton is good. That’s something I want to know. I like the light, not always racing-related questions.
My question is for Marco
Since you are from Pa who do you root for the Pittsburgh Steelers or the Philadelphia Eagles?
Hey guys,
Any first impression about the new car concept for 2012? Any test was already made with the drivers? Thanks! From the Rio de Janeiro’s hot summer!
Hey, everyone, these are not questions for any specific driver. Daniel clearly stated “We’re going to try and ask all of the 2011 IZOD IndyCar drivers the same 11 questions over the course of the season.”
Sam when are you coming home to the IRL where you are loved and respected?
If you could drive any of the cars in the IMS Museum or that have featured prominently at Indy, which one would be first on your list?
If you were a cartoon character, who would you want to be?
This is for Danica. You were suppossed to have your own line of perfume come. Did it and where can I find it and the name of it
To Dairo, Have you ever got to keep any of the cars you have driven to a win, If so what one?
I like to ask the drivers about the race results.
DRR, will Ana has more chances this year?
Penske and Ganassi, why not 4 cars on the lane, just like Andretti team?
What do you enjoy most of racing in IndyCar?
What is the biggest challenge you faced when climbing the ladder? And what is you biggest challenge racing now?
What would you want to be remembered for in 25 years?
After finishing InbyCar racing, what challenge would you tackle? Changing to off-road racing, endurance, stock cars? Running touring cars back home in Australia, Europe or Brazil? Running a team? Quitting motorsport altogether?
Are you guys going to do more road courses …..like the 1 in Birmingham Al ? 1
What active Indycar driver (other than yourself) do you respect/admire the most, and why? Same question for retired drivers as well.
I think it would be nice to know what the drivers think about their fellow racers, and see who ends up the most popular amongst the field of both current and retired drivers.
Would any of you ever want to try out NASCAR? If so, do you think that is something that could potentially happen in the future? (I know Dario and Danica have already, not sure about anyone else)
Also, which type of track do you prefer- ovals or road courses and why? Which track of each is your favorite?
Lastly, Who is your racing hero?
I think it would be really neat to get an inside look at the drivers lives. How about an MTV Cribs type of deal where the question could be… How does “this driver” live life away from the track” And you send a camera crew to invade their homes and get a tour!
