The month of May is known to be the most hectic month for the IZOD IndyCar stars, but it’s just as crazy for the helmet painters, in particular at the shop, when you paint for many of the Indycar drivers. The month of May is an incredibly hectic month but that all comes to one big reward on that historical race day. This year being the centennial year, it is a tremendous honor for us to be part of this great race, alongside so many of this Series finest drivers. We’re truly living a childhood dream by being involved in this great race and hope that one of our drivers will be the first to cross the finish line on this coming May 29th, 2011.

This year’s Indy 500 will not only mark the 100th anniversary of the great American race, but it will also mark the heroic return of IndyCar star Mike Conway. He will return on board his Andretti Autosport IndyCar to face the track which prematurely took him out of his 2010 season. For this tremendous event we had no choice but to make a special Indy 500 themed helmet for his triumphant return, we put the complete focus on the speedway’s landmark tower and hope it will bring him that extra edge in this grueling 500 mile dash.

Graham Rahal will be sporting this new Indy 500 themed helmet at the centennial edition of this epic race. We opted for a full sponsor influenced helmet as a thank you from Graham to their great start to their association together. After a great 2010 run at this race track, we hope that Graham will be able to get the elements together and make it to victory circle at the biggest race of the year.

Sebastian Saavedra will be sporting this new Indy 500 themed helmet at the centennial edition of this epic race.  After not having a special helmet at his inaugural running of the great race, due to not being with, this year we made sure that he looked the part with a great looking centennial logo on his helmet top.

We hope that Jay Howard will have a great running this year after falling so short in last year’s qualifying of the big one, we hope that his luck will turn around and have a great running at the speedway.

Vitor Meira and the group thought it would be a great idea to pay tribute to one of America’s greatest racers of all time, AJ Foyt. What better event to pay tribute to AJ, but at his beloved Indianapolis Motor Speedway where he immortalized the name AJ Foyt forever. We kept Vitor’s usual helmet design, with some centennial era logos all over and then dedicated the back area to two completely hand drawn sketches of “Tex”  by Art Rotondo. This helmet will not only be a great way for the hardcore IndyCar fan to remember the race’s great AJ moments but also to make the newer fans learn about one of the biggest innovators in Indycar racing. We hope that this helmet will have as much as an impact as our Ayrton Senna tribute helmet got back in Brazil. We were truly touched on how the IndyCar community took it upon themselves to put a big emphasis on our tribute to Ayrton and would like to thank them for the respect they showed during the broadcast.

Finally, make sure to also keep an eye out on Bertrand Baguette and Alex Lloyd’s helmets on the speedway as well, which are also all painted helmets.

Does anyone know why Servia’s drivers suit and car do not have “Telemundo” displayed on them?
