Personally, one of my favorite duties is sorting through the general email inbox. It’s a wide variety, from requests for drivers’ personal addresses to friendly suggestions on how to make the series better. And something that I hear a lot is that our fan group, INDYCAR Nation, is doing an awesome job at bringing fans closer to the action.

One of the most exciting things about the IZOD IndyCar Series is the up close and personal relationship it has with fans, like the all-driver autograph sessions at each race. You certainly don’t get that in any other professional sports league. INDYCAR Nation is a free source of fan news including weekly e-newsletters and exclusive editorials on the website. Sign up for FREE and you can also access Fantasy Racing and take advantage of coupons and discounts from our sponsors.

But the best value on the planet is the INDYCAR Nation Champion level…a.k.a. the INDYCAR fan club. Joining is like getting courtside seats all the time! Champion members pay a low price of $34.95/year and are exposed to a multitude of amazing experiences—including free credentials, travel packages, two-seater rides and personal meet-n’-greets with drivers.

Dario Franchiti at ICN Member event

This Friday in New Hampshire, for example, INDYCAR Nation Champion members have an opportunity to grab a beverage and hang out with all three Penske drivers—Helio Castroneves, Ryan Briscoe and Will Power—at Draft’s Sports Bar and Grill. You wouldn’t even get that close to Dwight Howard’s sweat band unless you sold all your possessions.

We’ve heard there is a brand new Champion member who joined this week. Not only has he never been to an INDYCAR race, this will be his first motorsports race EVER. He joined the fan club so he could be eligible for pace car rides and pre-race access, but he ended up winning a free 2-seater ride on Saturday. Talk about the membership paying for itself in one click!

the race on 8/14/11 was a sham, just when our group of 20 race fans, think indycar was getting there act together you let one team take over, one driver can’t drive when it is a little wet, and takes out a few,the rest of them
handeled it, 1 step forward and 10 steps back good job indycar. PS we wont be going to Vegas for indycar 20 less tickets for your return

With regards to the article of what to do with the current cars after this season- what about having a contest to award one to a fan? I would not mind have one in the garage!! The prize package would not have to include a engine or a bunch of spares, but a retired car would make a HECK of an addition to the mancave! Another idea would be to raffle a few of them to support some charity. C’mon Indycar- make my day!

your fining of will powers for his visual comments to your race directors stupidity is just as stupid as your race director restarting the race in worse rain than they threw the caution for. you are responsible for tearing up several cars. I have attended a few races but wont anymore untill you fire your race directors!

Great great event thoroughly enjoyed my first Indycar experience and will definitely return to Baltimore next year. It was the first time for the event and glitches were to be expected, but I have to say I encountered no problems. In fact, I left my paddock passes in NY and the Customer Service people were kind enough to print new ones for me at no extra charge. The racing was great, exciting, intense and colorful. The crowds were enthusiastic, well behaved and numerous, which added to the excitement of the event. All in all a sensational weekend and a great experience!

    Hey Doug,

Learn the difference between “there” and “their”. You’re sounding more like a third grader, ya’ll.

Why no fords, mopars or toyotas in indy racing? I really don’t give a rip abput honda or chevy but would watch if the fords or even the hyundais were there.

sad that the race only lets 2 manufacturers in. Afraid of Fords and mOPARS? Even hyundai has awsome V8.

I hope this is the right place to ask this one. NASCAR is on the track at IMS, so why not INDY Cars at Daytona, and even Taladega?
