Enhancing the fan experience is the goal, and Verizon is delivering with its IndyCar Mobile app that was launched Aug. 19 – just in time for the Indy Grand Prix of Sonoma – for the Android platform that includes all Android devices.
Check out your fave drivers, like Will Power
Incorporating social media functions Twitter and Facebook, news and video, the IndyCar Mobile app brings all the action of race weekends to fans — whether they’re in the grandstands or vicariously at the racetrack.
The IZOD IndyCar Series app for the Android platform is part of Verizon’s relationship with the IZOD IndyCar Series, and enhancements, including real-time timing and scoring will be added through the 2010 season.
Get details about app, including how to download, and about Verizon’s Android by logging on to mobile.vzw.com/indycar on an Android phone version 1.6 or newer.
Most of you do – and we’re really thankful for that. One thing I’ve noticed about IndyCar fans is that they’re passionate, vocal, knowledgeable and hungry for good online content. We’re trying to do a much better job with the online experience we offer.
There’s a section on the IndyCar website called Follow Us. Not sure if you’ve seen it or not. It’s a listing of all things digital. Intrigued? Check it.
It covers all the basics. You’ve watched our videos on YouTube. You’re likely a fan or ‘liker’ on Facebook. And hopefully you’ve participated in some of our contests through Twitter.
We’ve pushed really hard on Flickr this season, to give you behind-the-scenes access to all of the IZOD IndyCar Series races and events. Here’s one of my favorites.
Yep, a sandwich on the helmet
You may have noticed a lot more online activity from IndyCar this season. We’ve launched a new IndyCar site, kept up on Facebook, continued pumping out videos, became more active on Twitter, jumped into the image world of Flickr and we’ve been blogging, blogging, blogging.
It’s the beginning of us shaping a new online experience for our fans and providing more in-depth access to IndyCar – a sport we obviously love. And yesterday, our friends at nomee launched an IZOD IndyCar Series iPad app. Pretty cool (This link, will take you directly to the iTunes store).
Part of our new online effort involves working more closely with our partners to create richer opportunities for our fans, develop clear online strategies and honestly, work with/learn from/and support our great team sponsors, like Go Daddy.
Go Daddy in action
More than meets the eye-Track
The week leading up to the 500 can be filled with seemingly silent days compared with the numerous practice days before qualification. I savor my quiet time at the speedway, whether it is walking to my car in turn three after a busy day, or before an early morning photo shoot of the front row, when this photo was taken. It is a time when you can truly feel the history, by taking time to see beyond the drivers, fans, and cars. Ron McQueeney always encourages us to take a look at alternate perspectives. With so many talented individuals on the IMS photo staff, there is no need for five of us to shoot the same thing. So, early on that bump day morning I journeyed down into turn one and created this shot of the finally grooved track surface with a lightly blurred pagoda breaking through the background. I could have never anticipated that the speedway would become one of my favorites for shooting landscapes….

So, IndyCar has this gorgeous new thing hovering in front of it called a title sponsor. Did you see it? And are you ready to rock?!
Let me officially introduce myself. My name is Liza and by assignment, I hang with, talk to, dream of, conspire, chauffer, corral and get coffee for everything IZOD. Well, maybe not that last one, but from time to time I do enjoy a tall, half-caff, soy latte with a little cinnamon.
Anyway, my crazy brilliant co-workers dubbed me LIZOD. Get it? Liza + IZOD? I know. It’s like math.
So, as we charge through the 2010 race season, I’ll take you outside the track and beyond the races to show you what IZOD is doing to promote our amazing cars and stars. As we like to say, it’s a new day (or when we’re tired, it’s a new “egg”) and IZOD IndyCar is ready to rumble! From Super Bowl-themed cars to pit stop challenges in the middle of city streets, we want to get some attention for this marvelous sport.
I’ll bring you pictures, videos and musings from the runway to the yard of bricks. And if you’re the betting sort, I’m willing to wager I’ll fall off of one and trip on the other. While we spread the good word of IZOD IndyCar, we’ll need your help along the way. Follow us on Twitter @IndyCarNation and share our stories from Facebook. Lots of fun behind-the-scenes stuff coming your way…so click on that the little orange box with the dot and two white half-circles (that would be an RSS feed, people) and stay in touch with little ole me.
