Charlie Kimball – 11 in 11Charlie Kimball has joined the IZOD IndyCar Series for the 2011 season and before he ever turned a lap he was setting records. Having been diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes in 2007, he is the first IZOD IndyCar Series competitor to have driven with the disease.
Charlie uses a complex set of tools and rigid self-discipline to maintain his edge as a competitor. We were lucky enough to catch up with Charlie at Barber Motorsports Park for a few minutes and asked him questions submitted by you, the fans. Sit back, enjoy the video, and get to know one of the young, up and coming stars of the IZOD IndyCar Series.
We’re all about the 2011 season, thinking about new things we can do online. We’re working on a lot of different digital projects including a revamped IndyCar Nation section to IndyCar.com, a new mobile site, new content and more interaction with our fans – You!
One thing we offer a lot of online is video. Our YouTube Channel has over 1200 videos. Here’s Danica Patrick talking about technology in one of our videos from 2010. My point is, we produce a lot of video, and that won’t stop.
For 2011, we want to try a new video series, called 11 in 11. We’re going to try and ask all of the 2011 IZOD IndyCar drivers the same 11 questions over the course of the season.

Here’s where you become involved. We want you to come up with the selection of questions that would apply to any of our drivers.
Leave your general question as a comment on this blog. Or send it to us via Twitter (@IndyCar) or through our Facebook page. We need your suggestions by next Monday, January 10. Hey, we move fast.
We’ll pick the final 11 for 2011 and get started soon. You can expect to see these videos throughout the season and we promise to try and cover all of the drivers.
So we are reaching out to the fans for questions for these drivers during their media ventures on Tuesday Sept. 28. Let’s get started- what do you want to ask them? All you have to do is leave a question on this blog and we will pick a few to have the drivers answer.
Who will it be?
We are also meeting with Target Chip Ganassi Racing owner Chip Ganassi on Friday, Oct. 1, so if you have questions for him or the championship contenders this is the place to ask.
Questions that are selected will be included in a video segment that will be featured on indycar.com.
This week we’re focusing on a few IZOD IndyCar drivers to learn how they use technology when they’re not driving 200 mph. We asked them questions about their personal websites, Twitter, what sites they visit daily, their favorite YouTube videos, what makes them laugh and much more.
It’s Web Week on IndyCar.com. We’ll be releasing a new driver interview each day, revealing a new side to IndyCar and the drivers.
The first driver up in Web Talk is Tony Kanaan – which isn’t a bad choice for this topic.
